I dont trust our news. Except for the daily show with john stuart, and the colbert report. Every thing else is really mixed up. You'll hear one thing on one show then something completly different on another.

Anyway, I think half of you guys have blown this all out of proportion. I mostly started this thread to hear some good mormon myths, but nobody has given me any. I'd like to take a few moments to straighten things out a bit.
1:Honestly, if you are going to believe all that research you read on "google searches" don't come to the table. I can't stand ignorant people spouting shit. On the other hand, if you have good references and points, you're more than welcome.
2:Calm the F*** down fingers. Nobody likes an extremist and you're giving all mormons a bad rap.

Fearnoevil, the curse of cain was that his people were cut off from the lord. The darkening of their skin is called the Mark of Cain. Even members get that confused. Seceondly, the reason you can't read the "original" BoM is because it has gone through different editions where the vast majority of the changes were in punctuation, adding footnotes, references and what not. Rarely is the actual wording changed. Keep in mind that the original, badly edited Book was published in 1800's. Try finding any original edition publication from back then.

Lastly, I think it's better to think of the LDS church today, not then. I'll be the first to admit that there were problems, I can't stand them either, but have any of you read the BoM. It's full of good stuff as is the Bible. The doctrine of the church today is essentially the same as any Christian church, with some other inconsequential stuff thrown in. Really, I don't care whether there actually were Lamanites and Nephites or if Joe Smith was a con man or not. If he did see God, all the better, if he didn't, the Book of Mormon is the best load of shit I've ever read. The LDS church overall is a beneficial organization and I don't give tuppence if it's based on a load of crock so long as I can worship the Christ in a way consistent with my personal beliefs. Which is all one should really look for in a religion.

So, new discussion point:Problems with Church today. Discuss.

Don't call me "fingers". I am not an "extremist". Some Christian exampl;e you are setting....

Don't condescend. I don't call you "turncoat" or "traitor"; do I? I accept your opinion.

I am not un-calm. I don't cuss and constantly ad hominem, like some, do I? I'll always dispound lies and rumors, supposedly dropped over a century ago, that are still spewed. I'm not making anything look bad.

What's it to You if you left the Church as you said?

I've talked with Elders in the LDS church; they agree my points are valid; but say I shouldn't stoop to trying to convince anyone of the truth...
I also find it reinforces my faith to find where these rumors came from, and how unfounded they are.
If anyone chooses to get back to the twenty-first century, fine.
As I said, I'm not trying to convert anyone--Read my posts. I would defend lies on any religion/faith/principle. Steve_TPF and Shetlan and others brought up the bad stuff, not me. Also, breaches of protocol/confidentiality. I am only defending myself--what I sent as P/M or email, to prevent clogging the thread, they chose to fill it up with. I just dispute bull; not any belief in a faith. We are all free to choose. Tell THEM to calm down; don't pick on me. I am trying to be your friend.

I do agree some just googled things. Some have posted no proof at all....
