Hmm, I don't really think this topic should be locked IMO, After all the other topic gave possibly Faulty information. One way is to starve yourself, which is the dumbest thing anyone could do, do you have an interest in fighting or sports? Get a punching bag, Join a boxing club, take Karate classes. Can you do sit-ups? That's what's keeping me from looking so damn fat, Just find something physical you're interested in and do it.

If you kept reading... I posted a healthy way I lost and have continued to lose unwanted weight ...

I walk a couple miles now that I go to a campus though so I think that plays in a bit but I plan on exercising and lifting some to help shed a little more weight. So Basically if you want to lose weight guarenteed, that is how. Or you can STAR JONES it and staple your stomach. Oh and you do want to eat when you cut back at first but as long as you make sure you have 3 meals a day or for me 2 because I wake up late and have breakfast and an early dinner with a snack at night you won't have hunger anymore. I've fit into all more old clothes. But that idea [from other thread] was honestly bad. Hope this helps for some people, PM if you want support or have questions.
NOTE the exersizing times are per day

Ignoring the unhealthiness of this approach (as you did say, it is a dumb idea), I don't believe that this would work at all for a permanent loss of weight. My belief is that the natural workings of the body when exposed to a shortage of food, is to store all the energy it has in order to survive for as long as possible through this food shortage.

That energy is, more often than not, stored as fat. Hence defeating the purpose of starving yourself in the first place.

Physical activity is good, but it is only a part of losing weight. The secret, as I understand it, is simple: eat healthy foods in healthy amounts (don't starve yourself by any means), and burn more energy each day than you consume in that day.

Anything that you do (even sleeping and watching TV) burns energy, but physical activity is what burns the most energy. If you're not into sports, go for a brisk walk for around 30 minutes each day. Break it up into 10 minute blocks (or whatever feels comfortable for you) if you have to, as long as you burn the energy. A heightened pulse rate from physical activity is a good indicator that you are burning energy - if you're walking slow and your pulse rate isn't raised from normal, you're probably not working hard enough.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. You should talk to a local doctor to work out a weight loss plan that is suitable for your circumstances.

Eat less, work out more...

If you burn more calories then you take in then you will lose weight. Drink water with every meal. Eat shit thats good for you. Do exercise that is fun like playing football with friends, or getting a friend to work out with you. Tell your mom to buy more fruit(fresh) so you can eat that instead of snack food. You know what is good for you and what is not, limit yourself.

Thats about it, a couple (small) adjustments to everyday life and youre good to go! Have patience and stick with it.

Did you mean that people are not disciplined enough to follow it? Or rather, they are too lazy to follow it

ok. so im 5'8" 130 lbs. i eat extremely healthy. and i eat small snacks all day long. eating a little bit all the time speeds the hell out of your metabolism increasing your energy to burn calories. at least this is what ive read from my dads body building books locked up in some shed from when he used to do steroids. anyways.
another good thing on top of all the exercise and eating healthy is increasing your fiber intake. this can be done by raisin bran in the morning or taking metamucil or something that increases how much fiber you eat. fiber makes you poop. poop=good.
and another thing that will definitly help you lose weight and become a badass at the same time is to join wrestling at your school. it will teach you alot about nutrition/weight management/taking bitches to the floor. and most street fights are floor fighting.

and also stop drinking milk and replacing it with soy milk will help drastically as well. it might lower your sperm count but you dont want to get chicks prego at 14. so try it.

its what i do. peace.

The whole eat less and exercise more is actually in reality a stupid thing to do. If you burn off more than you eat, you wont be funcional in your everyday tasks, and your body will actually store body fat and burn off your muscle for energy, giving you the body of a fat crack head. When your body is starving, wether it be intentional lack of food from you, or overexpenditure of energy through exercise, your body will go into shock, not knowing what is going on and it will start to store your body fat for warmth and burn off your muscle for energy.

The proper way to loose weight is through eating healthy (not diet, diets suck and are very bad for you), and exercise. Give yourself a physical assessment, things like see how many push ups, sit ups, pull ups and body weight squats you can do, then so how long you can walk or jog, etc., just give yourself an assessment. Just to see where you are physically. I would recomend just doing body weight exercises, this'll help in burning fat and keeping your muscle, might even gain some. And just try and be physically active as much as possible. Doesnt mean you need to go and run for 20 miles, but maybe play basketball for an hour, ride a bike, play sports, etc.

Eating healthy is actually a very easy thing to do, think about it. Seriously thats all you have to do, when choosing something to eat, think about what it comes from, made of, what it'll do for you and if it will even satisfy you. Then listen to your mind and as long as your serious about it and dont try to write off the nuts in a Snickers bar as a source of healthy fat and protein, then you'll be fine. Also dont wait until youre hungry to eat, if you wait to that point you are starving yourself. Eat every 2 to 3 hours, doesnt have to be anything big, just eat for how you feel at that time. Also try not eating after 8PM and going for a walk around 9PM.

You just contradicted yourself there, not directly but you did. Eating healthy is good, but eating less is good too. You said your body will burn off muscles before fat, it is the other way around.

But I do agree with you that diets are a wank because diets deprive you of certain nutrients.

No, if under strain you're body will burn muscle to save it's precious reserve of fat. Nature's a bitch, huh?

To a point, your body will burn off muscle before it burns off the fat protecting organs, but other than that I'm pretty sure that it burns fat before muscles, at least that is what my health teach and the wrestling coach at my school said.

That's what a doctor friend said when he was trying to lose weight, so I'm confident about it, to an extent. He didn't really expand on that one comment though and if I Google it, all I get are "Lose weight and build muscle fast!" sites. It's probably a more complex answer then we make out.

do you want muscle or just to be a bit skinnier. best way to get buff is to be a bit on the chubby side then hit the weights every day and get on the protein shakes. or just speed up your metabollism so it processors food faster and doesn't absorb fat so much. if this is what you want i can give you some excercises ha
