paper crossbow

I recently watched a prison documentary where some ex-prison gaurds said some inmates made some crossbows out of newspapers

If any one out there knows how to make them can i please get some info

there was a MythBusters episode about it, You can make them, but the only way to kill with one would be to get a direct hit to the throat and they were very inaccurate .

It'd be a good idea to use a few other materials along with the paper. In prison, they have no choice. You do. You'd do well to use something else for the bow and the firing mechanism. The stock could be paper or paper mache though.

i heard a prisoner built a zip gun using paper mache, a few bits plastic (i think some pvc pipe), and a combination of chemicals he stole from the kitchen (the chemicals were used for cleaning, and a marble. so he used paper mache and pipe or something like that to make the barrel, he placed the chemicals in the improvised gun and then dropped in a marble. he positioned the chemical filled end of the tube against a heater, and i suppose the heat caused a chemical reaction thus firing the marble at high velocity. of course that process would be ineffective for killing, but he never intended to fight with the gun, because he used to commit suicide. i heard this story from a friend who claims to have heard the story from a reliable resource, i can't confirm if it was a true story, and i dont know if it is possible to construct an improvised gun like that. either way it's amazing how prisoners come up with wacky ideas on how to construct weapons.

p.s. just a little fun fact. at my school, we steal plastic rulers and break them in half. this forms jagged edges that are quite sharp. it sounds stupid but i have been shanked by one once and it hurts like a bitch. kids at my school carry them all the time, they do so because they can't get in trouble for carrying around a broken ruler.

When you were shanked french did it actually stab you or just poke hard? Either way thats scary shit. I carry a knife at all times but if I knew everyone was armed I'd be hella careful.
