Knife fighting and making ghetto knives
Written by paininvmuthafuckinass AKA slim-ov-derby

This guide is for informational and defensive purposes only. If I thought for one second the readers of this guide would use any information contained for causing harm to other people then I would not post it . I however do not accept any responsibility for how you use any of the information you read in this guide.

Note: I have added info onto this since the last time, an example being the sub content of making sharp weapons/knives in prison

Suggested clothing
Ok it may not seem important to fighting and you may not be wearing this type of clothing when the situation occurs, but clothing has an effect in any situation and I think I should cover this anyway from what I know.

In knife fighting any flesh cut is an aim for the competitors, so it's best you wear long clothing.

It's not just the length of the clothing which is important though. It needs to be suited to you, and you must be able to still move around quickly, be covered but also have strong clothing at the same time.

A leather jacket, jeans and some motocross gloves would be a fine example of clothing to wear for protection when knife fighting. Because they're thick and harder to cut through quickly; you just need to make sure the clothing isn't too baggy that it slows you down, yet that it isn't too tight that you can't move either.

Trainers with grip or desert boots are a must, just make sure they are snug on you, and obviously not too tight that your feet get sore. This helps with balance and moving around.

The motocross gloves are for thickness, cover of the wrists and hands, but they also help with extra grip aswell. Just make sure they aren't too thick that it feels uncomfortable holding the knife in your hand.

Finding the right knife for you
Ok well the advice I'm going to give you should bear in mind who ever you are reading this; folding knives are shit. Yeah they may be easier to carry around, but it's fucking stupid when you go to flip it out and it could fold back onto your fingers because you were trying to act like a badass retard.

You can get your knives from a hunting store or even off the market. If it's your first time knife shopping then I suggest taking someone who does/has hunt(ed) before, who can help you aswell.

From personal experience and having owned one in the past, I can honestly say one of the best type of knives are tanto blades. Tac1 tanto blades you can not go wrong with, the grip is great and the blade is just fucking sharp and usually of average size.

These are what tantos look like.
Most tantos have a blade of either 6 or 7 inches, which is perfect.

Buck hunting knives are a good choice aswell, but I definitely recommend tac1 tanto blades.

Any knife you get should not have a blade shorter than 4 inches at the least.

Ghetto way of making knives
Ok well making knives (not really good ones mind you, but you'll see what I mean) is fairly easy.

You can simply make a knife with just a pair of scissors and a grinding stone, or even a file.

You 1st need to unscrew the screw that is holding the scissor blades together (it's been red boxed so you know what I mean)

Now you can either leave the rubber handle to the blade on, or you can saw it off.

If you leave it on then you can melt it and squash it together so there is no hole in the handle anymore. You'll have to make the handle smoother obviously. So just heat it up again so it starts melting and then just smooth it.

If you sawed the handle off then later after the next process you can wrap it in multiple layers of duct tape to make a handle (I prefer the 1st method though because the handle is better for grip)

Now that business is taken care of we sharpen the blade on the top and bottom of the blade, until it is sharp and pointy enough.

Filing it takes longer and is more annoying to get it smooth and pointy, so that's why it's good to have a grinder. But if you don't then some really old can openers have grinding stones inside the back, inside the gaps)

I would not suggest using this knife in a fight, but I just added this ghetto way of making a knife just for the sake of it.

Making knives/sharp objects in prison
Well by dad told me this is how some of the prisoners made their "knives" inside. This is the real ghetto shit.

1
What you'll need
Clear plastic wrappers (be it from sweets or off a pack of cigs)
A lighter
Cool water (if your in prison then it's obvious that you'll need to use the toilet in your room)

What you do is:
- Roll up the wrapper(s) (use more than one if you want it bigger)
- Heat one side of it up
- Now quickly dip it in cool water
- Now mould it into a pointy shape like a knife (most of the times in prison they form them into the shape of shanks)
- Repeat the process until it's as sharp or as long as you want

2
This is simple and a no brainer, but I thoguht I'd add it anyway
What you'll need
Penny
Rough surface

- Simply all you do is take your penny and keep scraping/rubbing it up and downwards until you wear it don into a blade similar to a pencil sharpner blade.
- This isn't used for stabbing, but slitting throats.

Stance and how it helps
Ok first of all you need to get out of your head ANY knife fight you see in the movies, as most of them promote this stance:

This is wrong. The position he is in is not defensive at all, and this is because the knife can be easily knocked out of your opponents hand when the opportunity occurs (when he blinks)

He also has no time to step in with his free hand for an attack and is forced to use his knife hand, which can not get lunge in, and is forced to use slashing (which I may add is not used in knife fights as much as you think).

Besides the fact it's easy to slice him (yes I know it's ironic since I just said slashing isn't used alot) on his wrist or across his fingers (trust me he should drop his knife if slice his fingers hard and quick enough)

The stance you do want to be in should be like this:

As you can see his free hand his extended out and open ready to attack, his legs are roughly shoulder width apart, his knees are bent and his waist is slightly leaning forward aswell so that the can focus better and is in line with the rest of his positioned body and can move along according to this.

Notice how unlike the wrong stance the knife is brought close to your body so that the knife can not be knocked out ou of your hand and you can not be stopped, unless your opponent comes into your stabbing range and then you can .... stab him (DUH!). Also the fact he can't come in without getting a good smack with your free hand.

This stance is what helps you focus and a harder target for your opponent. Focusing is exactly what you want to be doing; in a knife fight you must never take your eyes off your opponent unless you want to be gutted like a fish.

Defence stance
This is the stance to use when you have no knife, yet your opponent does:

Your hands should always be kept open! (trust me you'll see why later on in the defence section)
Grip and how it helps

This type of grip in the pic is referred to as the "hit grip". It is used for penetration more than anything.

As you can see this grip is a fist clenched over the handle of the knife. The top of your hand should be at the bottom of the blade and handle and clenched tightly. The thumb is what makes your grip more secure. It is the grip I suggest you use anyway.

Knife fighting techniques
Ok from the stance I suggested you should be going for a primary target (the eyes) with your free hand. Strike out with it quick and hard; whether it be for an eye poke or to use a palm strike to his eye. Either way he will loose concentration and close his eyes as reaction.

Straight after the free hand attack you should follow through with a stab wherever there is an opening. This must also be quick. You should bear in mind that knife fights don't last long at all unlike the movies where it's all blades and feet flying. You should not give your opponent time to get in on the defence.

You should always look for an opening with his side which is sticking out. This is a follow up from the previous tip i gave you which is to strike out with your free hand to the eye and keep his head held in your free hand while trying to turn him outwards so his side is sticking out and you can come in and thrust into where his kidney is. The kidney is a good place to attack for because there is no protection over it.

If you want to do a grapple (which I don't recommend in knife fighting) then you go for your free hand strike as usual and place your free hand on his shoulder shortly after the strike and keep your distance from him yet still in stabbing distance and a distance where you can bring your knees into him to slow it down before you go in for the kill.

Do not attempt a headlock to take him down, this is a brilliant chance for him where he can bring his knife into YOUR kidney; so stay away from headlocks.

The main targets when the situation occurs for the gutting is the gut, kidneys and the heart.

The heart is 3/4 on the left side of a person's chest. Do not aim for the middle of the chest as the rib cage and sternum will be a protector for the opponent. The best way to go about this is by stabbing upwards into the stomach at roughy a 75 degree angle, then force it up towards their heart. It should cut the diaphragm aswell, making it hard for them to breath while you're doing it.

Behind attacks
If the situation occurs, which isn't very often unless you're sneaking up on someone for no reason to kill them, then these are the 2 ways you can go about it.

One is going behind your opponent, putting your free hand/arm over their shoulder and putting your hand over their mouth so they can't scream, while you pull them down, and drawing your knee into the bottom of their back/waist to help push them forward while you're pulling back to get them down; and then while using the hit grip with maximum force you stab deep into their spinal cord (which is at the base of the skull).

Ok now slit throats may seem logical. If you've watched too many movies to believe them then you're wrong. Alot of people make the mistake of pulling the persons head back and then cutting their throat. This is stupid and hell alot of people have been known to survive against it if it's done in this way. When you pull back someone's neck, you can feel the rings of muscle in your wind pipe tense up. This acts as kind of like a protection. The way you really do it is to approach them from behind and put you knife arm/hand over their shoulder and quickly have the blade to their throat, whilst with your other arm you bend out and push forward on the back of their head while forcing the whole of your body to help force you to push his head further while you make the cut.

Defence against an armed attacker, when you have no knife
Ok now refer to the defensive stance I showed you earlier.

Keep your knees bent and your feet in the same position as a boxing stance while keeping your knees bent (not too apart, but not too close to each other either).

Never stand up straight, you will not be able to protect yourself if you're in a head on position for the attacker.

Keep low by being bent forward at the waist like normal knife fighting position. Remember a smaller target is a harder target to get.

You must also always be on the move, but not dancing around your opponent because this can catch you off balance. But there should never eb a time when you're not moving. Moving targets are also harder to hit.

You must not take your eyes off your attacker at all. Who ever takes their eye off the ball 1st is going to the morgue.

You must not let an attacker get you on your side or turn you around to expose your side, otherwise you're dead. You should block the knife only when it is thrusted towards you. You will want to do this where the knife is between your arm and your rib cage and caught between the two. If the attacker is right handed he will go to expose your left side and vice versa if he's left handed. As soon as you have got him caught do not hesitate to jab him with your free hand etc and bring your knees into his gut.

You can also try a quick slap of the knife hand of the attacker, this is by using one of your free hands to quickly slap down on the attackers knife hand when he comes in for the thrust. Do not attempt to grab his hand though as he can come in with his free hand and get you. When you slap the attackers hand you will want to come in with your free hand and get him.

Keep in mind weak spots you should go for on the defensive are the balls and eyes.

Use your surroundings and objects to your advantage. For example if you have an ashtray nearby on a table in the pub, or a T-shirt (fuck knows where from) present already, or anything you can throw at his eyes to distract him, then do it and advance forward and strike out with your freehand to keep the knife hand of your attackers pushed away from you while you can go on the attack against him (try to wind him or kick him in his bollocks) and then belt the fuck out of him, and then decide if you take his knife and kill that fucker or if you just kick the shit out of him, or run away.

PS you should never stick around as long as you need to. And remember if you've already penetrated him then it won't make a difference, don't stop until he stops.

Thank you that was really informative. I'm glad you addressed the stance you should be in. I one time saw a guy get his hand crippled because he had his hand out there like an idiot and the dude he was fighting grabbed his hand and the tendons in the back
