Torture/Interrogation Methods

This thread is to discuss the best way to obtain information from people using "unconventional" methods and unique or wierd torture methods like the chinese water torture.

What do you think the most effective or practical way of obtaining information from people is?

I am not starting this topic because I am planning on interrogationg or torturing anyone soon, it's just because I thought it might be an interesting discussion. I also want to state that I do not in anyway condone torturing people for information. (or any other reason)

Isolation.
For a really long time.
As in 6+ months.
They WILL give in...eventually.

Isolation and extreme lying.
"We have evidence, your wife has just admitted that she will testify against you and she wants you to know that it's really not your son." "Your dad is near death, but we can't allow you to go till we get the correct information."

I am 100% against any sort of authority figure lying.
I've heard so many stories about cops lying, and it enrages me.
Same with the army, mostly to get teen recruits.

definately
I think Isolation would do it alone, considering that without human contact for a certain amount of time, people have died
but there could be the risk that the person could go nuts
and not even be able to give you the correct information

you could always resort back to those classic ways of putting them in really annoying situations
like strapping them down with a fosset dripping cold water very slowly on their face
I know I'd snap after about a few hours of that

Restrain them to a table get a radio and headphones and just turn it up to max volume and blast his eardrums with flatline noise.Do that fo a couple days without stop and he'll brake.

Nice, that's actually some method I haven't heard about yet. Did you make it up or find it somewhere?

That's a good one, ands it's original. I think the more you know about a person, the easier it will be to break them. Like fears for example, if you knew they were claustrophobic you could lock them in a small room. Threatining family members works great too.

Stick them in a brightly lit, cold room and dont let them sleep. no shouting no beatings just dont let them sleep, if they drop off kick them in the ribs and walk them about a bit.

Needles. Start at there feet and leave needles poked in there skin. Say im going from bottom to top and im not stopping for anything. They will crack before you reach their kneecaps.

That reminds me of a torture method I forgot about, putting red hot needles underneath fingernails. I think if you had more than one captive, a good way to make them talk would be too (after few days of torturing them) drag them out of there cell or wherever you were keeping them and outside, make them all kneel down and tie their hands behind their back then say that this is their last chance to save there life. If they don't cough up the info, blindfold them all and inform them that they can stop this at anytime by telling them what they know, then start firing into the air with about a 5 second pause between each shot.

Just play white noise, very very loudly when it's time for them to go to sleep.

White noise has this nasty tendency towards being eventually assimilated to the background. Play crappy Muzak instead.

tie the person to a solid chair bolted to the ground. make sure you put cloths under the ropes to prevent him from hurting himself.

now leave him in a room full of paint splatters and smiley faces, spraying cold water in his face every 15 minutes. Don't give him anything else. And have a track playing in loop saying "just give up... no one can help you... tell everything... you can't take this anymore..." He'll give in ideally after a few hours.

there's this ancient method of chaining a guy up and slicing off the top layer of his flesh bit by bit, all over. but this was purely for torture, 'cos the person ends up dead most of the time.

But my friends and I did come up with this rather... humourous way... tie the guy up like in the first method, and make sure he can't move. Make sure hes naked too. then show him porn. just keep showing him porn after porn after porn. you might want to add in tight rings or something, but the thought of watching porn and not being able to do anything is enough to make me shudder.

Not always. It has been used in SASR selection while candidates actually get given opportunities to sleep.

Mental torture:
Tie the subject to a bed, strip them naked, hold their eyelids open (using clamps). Shine spotlights directly onto the individual. Then setup two drips over each eye containing saline (sp?) and get it to constantly drip directly onto their eyes from a height. Play some varying, very loud white noise in the background. Tie them up tightly so they can't budge, mainly their head, but not enough to cut circulation.

Tie the subject up hanging in a stress position (semi suspended) arms bound together, blind folded in a dark room. White noise, or just general loud noises once again, to deprive them of sleep.
Alternate this by pulling them out of the stress position, and hog tie them, put them inside a small steel cage (only just big enough to fit them in) and constantly beat the cage with a hard object, just to make noise etc etc.
Every now and then, play a certain distinct(unpleasent) type of noise, and follow that up immediately with something unpleasent, perhaps an electric shock, or something. Vary the times so they can't predict it, just know they're going to get it with the sound(can do this with the first one too).

One of the keys is to take someone as far out of their comfort zone as possible, deprive them of sleep, etc.

As for food. One, highly nutritious, high calorie meal/food, as bland and as flavourless as possible, and cold. Just to keep them alive and kicking

Just a few ideas, I could keep going, but I need to take a shower. There's still the physical torture which I haven't gotten into.

sensory deprivation-blindfolded, bound in a silent room kept at 23C while kept on a feeding tube. This has the advantage over solitary confinement that it takes not as long and it doesn't turn them insane. Sensory deprivation just warps their sense of judgement and perception of the situation. if you allow them to sleep, and don't cause them pain, they will side with you. Also, not causing pain produces more reliable results - i'm sure you all know the thing about tortured prisoners bullshitting to stop the pain. But sensory deprivation causes time-lapses, very mild hallucinations and other stuff that fucks them up while subjected to it.

With that thing where you pretend to shot their mates, i remember finding that when researching the Vietnam War. Australian soldiers captured some Viet Cong colonel or something and his son. They cuffed the dad and walked him a little way into the jungle, then fired a shot. The son spilled the beans enough for then to get a foothold for questioning the dad.

There was this old method of killing criminals in a LAWFUL situation with ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE of murder. This was employed to kill spies or something. Can't quite remember.

Subject the person to the sensory deprivation for a week, then tell him his a doctor is in the house. This "doctor" is going to make an incision in his neck, and he's going to bleed to death.

Following that, use a razor and slide across his neck (around the lymph notes or w/e they're called). MAKE SURE HE IS UNHARMED if you are in a highly hostile situation e.g. his lawyers want you dead. Then at the same time allow trickles of warm liquid (the guy who taught me this said they used vinegar. but i doubt it) )flow from the "cut". Talk in hushed voices about how much blood there is and the person should just slip away and die.

Unfortunately, no. It's by word of mouth. I suppose any evidence would be classified since it was used by officials to kill unlawfully.

But the person has to be in a very weak state of mind. The mind is a pretty powerful thing

I don't think that is lawful everywhere. Even if it did work. Sure they might pass out from shock, but - die? No way.
It'd be classed under voluntary euthanasia .As you haven't actually killed them, but you helped them. No maybe involuntary, as they didn't want to die. Whatever - either way, I'm casting my vote to *bullshit story*. Sorry
