Rep Power: 0 | | Not to be a dick, but the common names aren't really relevant, as they vary too greatly, and are all, technically, correct.
the most common species found:
Family Solanaceae
Atropa belladonna
Damn Im a freakin' n00b. this was a reply to Synchronium about calling "deadly Nightshade" "Belladonna"

Rep Power: 0 | | You could place the plant in their food while its being prepared. This might be hard to do if your trying to be covert but you could always pay off a chef to include your special ingredient. Or make sure that the pepper shaker on the table of your target is filled with a potent poison that wouldn't make the pepper look any different. The salt might be better because salt can be put in solution with a poison and then recrystallized before putting back into the shaker. |

Rep Power: 0 | | There are many poisonous alkaloids that naturly occur in many plants, and can be extracted (mostly) using one method.
Is anyone here famillar with the Mujahideen Poisons e-book, this has been by bible the past couple of years as far as poisons are conserned and is a great and reliable source.

Rep Power: 0 | | Okay, so after some research in nicotine, can't figure out if it needs to be in its freebase form to be skin permeable or could it be in any form?
EDIT: Nicotine does not seem to work as a contact poison.
Ten cigarettes worth of tobacco was removed and placed in twice its mass of isopropyl alcohol and gently heated. Tobacco was removed from the container and set under a strong lamp over a few weeks.
Self testing was conducted since no volunteers were present. Pinky finger was dipped into the nicotine and [knowing the feeling/effects of smoking] there was absolutely no buzz or anything.
Help please?

Rep Power: 0 | | hey uh i am making a blow gun and some darts so i figured i mite as well go all out and make some poison with it.
does anyone have any recomendations on certian recipes for poison for blow darts.(if you can please post one for a lethal pioison and a non-leathal poison that will just hurt like a bitch).
oh! and suppose i were to shoot someone with a blow dart, any recomomdations that will put that person in agonizing pain but not be in any way lethal.
if you can please try to give me recipes that use plants found in the north-western U.S(that were i live)and also please post the side effects of the poison, and thanks everyone.

Rep Power: 0 | | Don't forget about belladona (contains a powerful anticholinergic, atropine)
But probably the most effeceient of all plant contained poisons:
castor beans.
Eat a single castor bean, or perhaps two if you're an adult, and you'll die.
Castor beans (not true beans, but rather seeds) contain a poison, called ricin, which works by preventing cells from making proteins, says the CDC (Center for Disease Control). Cells die without the proteins, and the resulting damage to the body can be great enough to eventually kill a person.
The plant originally came from Eastern Africa, but now grows wild all over. Many cities plant it in parks, and other public places.
More ominous: ricin is part of the mash left over from making castor oil from the beans, and can be used to deliberately poison people. A 500-microgram dose (about the size of a pin head) is enough to do the job if injected or inhaled In 1978, Georgi Markov, a Bulgarian writer and journalist who was living in London, died after a man stabbed him with an umbrella, which injected a ricin pellet, says the CDC.

And is it dangerous to handle with your hands?
(and i would wear gloves anyway, just asking).

Rep Power: 3 | | I found a neat book in the library today. Plants That Poison by Ervin Schmultz. It was an illustrated field guide to poisonous plants and included information such as, poisons in the plant, whether it was lethal or non lethal, how it poisons(orally, through contact, etc.) symptoms it causes and comments on the plant. It also lists both scientific names and common names. I'll try and check it out( I didn't have my card with me) and post some info from it soon.

Oh and about nicotine... you can't buy straight nicotine as far as I know but there is (if my memory serves me) a product that is almost 40% nicotine which can be purified somehow. I wish I remebered the details better, I might look into this more now. | go to puresmoker.com there you can buy pure liquid(more of an oil)nicotine

Rep Power: 0 | | I forget where else they grow (I'm in canada) the "rosary pea" is a somewhat common weed in Florida but the state probably has the nearby outcroppings exterminated so visit an overgrown area. one pea can supposedly kill a grown man. also, try to get some conium (hope its spelled that way), the active ingredient (or plant itself) in what we call Hemlock. used to kill socrates, it paralyzes body and fatally depresses breathing.
