Homemade Weapons
I got bored the other night and made a Cross bow out of two wire coat hangers rubber bands and a few zip ties. It actually wasent that hard. It probably wouldent kill any one but could hurt em a bit. I was just wondering if any of ya'll ever got bored and just built random weapons and shit. Im planning on making some good brass knuckles, not a chain or rings but replicate real brass's.
EDIT: Since headcase was nice enough to change the title to fit our discussion a bit better, Im going to say any weapon is fair game except explosives, and fantasy weapons you like to think abut but aint never gonna be able to build. I want what you have made or are planning on making.

Back in The Good Old Days when i was a kid, we used to make CoatHanger bow 'n' arrows by removing the hook and placing elastic bands shooting twigs:lol:.

Down here, we made a tater cannon with pvc and black powder. It was strong enough to probably knock out a deer. And dont give me any crap about not being able to knock out a deer with a tater cannon. I never tried it but you never know.

Oh man I could easily take out a deer with mine if I lathed a slug to fire, if you shot a deer with a potato it would just be like wtf and walk away haha.
Anything that can launch a potato 150m+ is heaps of fun, but some people get carried away making theirs to fancy (Im probably just saying this cus im jelous and too lasy to build a fancy one of my own)

I once filled a pneumatic water gun with petrol and used it as a flame thrower. Looked great, especially at night, and sounded pretty good too. Fun times.

A pneumatic spud gun with petrol in the barrel then fired also makes a nice flame thrower, although it would be impratical as any type of weapon, just for show

I tried this when I was younger, and I failed hard. Filled up a super-soaker with petrol, had a mate light the stream after I started shooting and it set his hand on fire, aswell as the gun.
I think I was about 11 so I wasn't that concerned with safety at the time.

I either held the lighter or had it taped to the barrel. It was about 15 years ago so I don't remember the details. Worked fine for me.

Flamethrowers are great. Really. But what the fuck has this to do with coathanger crossbows?
Keep on topic. If you want to discuss something else, make a new thread for it.

The topic isn't limited to coat-hanger crossbows. He did ask about "random weapons and shit."

I was a bit of a retard though, never occured to me to tape it to the barrel. That does beg the question though, how did the lighter stay lit if it was taped to the barrel, and how did you manage to hold a lighter down and pump fuel through the gun at the same time?

If it was pneumatic then he could have pumped the air into the liquid reserve, meaning he could fire the trigger without needing to pump. The lighter could have been a flint based lighter- this doesn't require a button to remain pressed down.

It was a gas lighter. The gun was already pumped, I just had to pull the trigger. I believe I wore a gardening glove on the hand holding the lighter. If I was going to do this again I'd use a mini gas torch for the pilot light.

Dude you guys have far more testicles than myself. I WOULD NOT hold anything shooting flames from a petrol tank, that didnt have a spark arrester.
T3D, you are crazy. Would you seriously have a backpack sprayer filled with gas on your back? Wow.
I made a blowgun once out of a piece of pipe. It sucked. I also made my own nunchucks and whet around and hit the neighbor kids with it.
Good times.

I have thought about it on many occasions. Wouldn't necessarily be on my back though mate.

Wow. Thats madness. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is? I might hook a hose up to a tank full of it about 200+ feet away. But never that close.
