truth or myths about stun guns

In the movies, people who get zapped with stun guns fall to the ground losing consciousness. but looking at youtube, those jerks playing with stun gun don't really pass out, they just scream like little pigs, like something hit them really hard. but they don't really zap them in the head or neck, only in the arms or torso area.
My question is, can you use stun guns to knock someone out cold by zapping them in the head or neck, for say 2 seconds? will they make a lot of noise or scream? If so if I hold them back with the other hand or cover their mouth, will I get eletricuted too? I don't really need them to stay unconscious for long, maybe just about a minute is enough so I can tie them up or inject them tranquilizer.
Also, is taser better option? but they are kind of hard to come by in Canada, whereas stun guns can easily be home made.

If you are talking about a "home made Stun gun" made from a camera, they are NO WHERE NEAR a "retail" stun gun.

For starters the entire concept of a stun gun is to be non-lethal. They are very strongly regulated to give a VERY low apmerage VERY High Voltage shock by skin contact.

A camera flash type device usually only uses about 330v and has a much higher chance of giving out leathal amperage.

Also, a taser is pretty much just a stun gun that fires it's prongs (Attatched to wires and barbed at the recieving end.) A lot of the time though, tasers when fired (CO2 propulsion) will also release a conffetti like substance that can be used to define and trace the taser so it is not the best idea if you want to use one illicitly!
