-- Posted by imgoinginsane on 3:04 am on Mar. 9, 2002 Has anyone heared of a centrifugal gun, and if so would it be possible to send me the plans to make one. From what ive heared a centrifugal gun can hurl a bb with as much power as a shotgun shell using a 9v battery.

The only thing that makes any sense out of the phrase "centrifugal gun" is something that uses rotational force to accelerate the projectile, then somehow releases it (like a beefed up clay pigeon launcher that uses a motor instead of a strong spring). But I guarantee it won't run on 9v, and certainly won't have the power of a chemically-propelled projectile.
-- Posted by preditor on 1:38 pm on Mar. 12, 2002 if you want to make a projectile fly with a lot of force by spinning it around try useing one of those slings that you see in movies about ancient cultures. because aside from powering a machine to do it with a petrol engine well you get it.
-- Posted by johnny 99 on 6:06 pm on Mar. 14, 2002 hello new user here. I recall that one of the poor mans james bond books shows this. its just a mottor, whatever size you want conected to the center of a flat metal plate with vanes welded to it. so that if you drop a round pellet in it near te center it is acceerated around, and away from the center, and guided by the outer housing into a barrel. but i dont believe that it will shoot a bb that hard!!! think cordless drill and flywheel and 3/8 slingshot ammo.

-- Posted by Hergor on 6:54 am on Mar. 15, 2002 centrifugal force does not exist. the force that works against the centripetal force is the inertia of that certain mass. the mass tries to keep it's actual course and speed. when forced into a circular course the inertia is referred to as 'centrifugal force' but this is no correct physical expression.
