Also, wouldn't halogens light the lower regions of the plants that would normaly be in the dark with florescents? I would say that 100 watt is better. In the forums there is an experienced guy who used a bunch of 100 watt shop lights. Cuz they have police heli-coppers that can see heat. If it's shaped in the shape of a box or closet..suspision is raised. Watch ur back and don't boast about it at school or work or whatever. That will mark ur grave. I'm growing Salvia indoors (it's too cold out) and I use only a few 100 watt shop lights for it. It dose not require as much light as Marijuana dose but it dose more than like...flowers or whatever. In controled growth u can use fertilizer and shit to make a plant produce more/stronger chemicles (in weed: THC in Salvia: Salvorinium A/B). Thats what I like about it. Can u mix breeds of plants? Like cross a weed plant w/ a salvia plant? They would only be able to get a warrant based on that if it looked like the entire building was devoted to growing weed. If you have it growing in a closet, don't worry. The plants will grow but not to their best potential! Plus the amount of heat given off is unbelievable. Use HPS or MH bulbs they are perfect!!! You can also get 430w HPS son argon or something like that, which is 400w of HPS with 30w of Blue specrum thrown in for Veg growth! If you can only afford one light go with a HPS as the resulting buds that you will get are lovely! oh yes, you will also need enough wattage to give the plants enough energy. You need 50w per square foot of floor space. 50w is the optimum for mj but they will be happy with anything ove 37.5w per square foot! I ask because I've heard that MH lamps give off alot of blue light which is good for the plants, but maybe I should just go get a HPS lamp (those things are like $350!!!!) But I have also seen a lamp that combines both HPS and MH bulbs in 500w, 800w, and 1000w at http://www.elights.com/duallampsystem.html . to bad it's so fucken pricey. anyway, thanks for the advice dude.   Peace out -- Posted by kozical420 on 4:33 am on Mar. 28, 2002 its not recommended that you use a 500 watt bulb because you will fry your plant you should goto walmart and get a indoor plant light i believe is about a 40 to 60 watt , mount it one to two foot above the plant 12 on 12 off for mass growth i would recommend 4 or more of these bulbs depending on how many you are growing you can grow up to about six healthy ones with one bulb so you can estimate how many it would take for your specific needs     http://www.bombshock.com
