-- Posted by Glocken der Holle on 8:31 pm on Mar. 12, 2002 Could I grow my marijuana with a halogen lamp (a big one [500 watts])??? If so, would it be as good or better than florescents? I saw this on some marijuana growing guide here: http://www.geocities.com/roundyz/index.html , so don't blame it on me if it's a bad idea. Thanks
-- Posted by midas on 11:07 am on Mar. 13, 2002 hey halogen bulbs burn to hot. you could use it though if you have a whole room. it produces good frequencies of light for growing bud. me personally am growing in a wooden box, because i still live at home. but my parent does not care what i do but i am not sure about this. i have a 500w halogen bulb too but it burns WAY too fucking hot for my usage. well hope this was some help
-- Posted by Glocken der Holle on 3:26 pm on Mar. 13, 2002 Hey thanks, where i'm growing has ac, and I could just hang it far up the wall (or I guess I should say, the side of gaping hole in my friends basment) so it wouldn't burn the poor little guys.
-- Posted by balor on 4:02 pm on Mar. 13, 2002 fluorescents are about 8 to 10 times more energy efficient that halogens for a similar wattage.Just reduces a cost while not reducing quality if done right( a greater number of lights are needed)
-- Posted by Glocken der Holle on 7:19 pm on Mar. 13, 2002 Except wouldn't the halogens make the plants grow faster and make bigger buds than the florescents because the halogens give out many more lumens of light compared to the florescents? Also, wouldn't halogens light the lower regions of the plants that would normaly be in the dark with florescents? There is a high chance that all of this is wrong but whatever.
-- Posted by GRINCHMEIZTER on 11:38 am on Mar. 14, 2002 And dont forget the electric company.about ten years ago my neighbor went overboard in the basement and two bedrooms with too many lights.

Well.. I would say that 100 watt is better.
-- Posted by GRINCHMEIZTER on 7:35 pm on Mar. 14, 2002 What? sorry bro but um them cameras cant see through walls
-- Posted by Roland49686 on 10:12 pm on Mar. 14, 2002 Look boy. I said..u need to get Info on this shit before u start throwing shit around! Yes..heat sensing cameras CAN see thru walls. Also called Infared. I mean..come on here. Please get an education. Are you a peanut smoker too?

Grow Room Detection
-- Posted by confuzious on 4:51 pm on Mar. 15, 2002 They can see heat, but they can't tell it from a radiator or space heater unless you really have a lot of lights. They would only be able to get a warrant based on that if it looked like the entire building was devoted to growing weed. If you have it growing in a closet, don't worry. And the infrared can't see through a couple floors, so grow it in the basement if you are growing on a large scale.

Heh... Well I guess the police can suck my dick either way! lol.

apparently you have never done a research paper..get your facts straight

damn i guess i shut him up for now.
-- Posted by EvilSkuzzi on 12:41 pm on Mar. 21, 2002 Sorry but halogen lights do not give off very good spectrums of light! The plants will grow but not to their best potential! Plus the amount of heat given off is unbelievable. Use HPS or MH bulbs they are perfect!!! You can also use florescents.
-- Posted by dellexo on 3:00 pm on Mar. 21, 2002 I normaly use M.H durring the first few weeks of vegative growth then when i put them into flowering,i use H.P.S.I have used H.P.S from start to finish but they lack light in the blue end of the spectrum which results in spindly vegative growth.
-- Posted by Glocken der Holle on 11:50 pm on Mar. 23, 2002
How do VHO (very high output) and SHO (super high output) lamps compare to MH and HPS lamps. oh yeah, and would mj grow well if i set up a ton of LEDs (light emitting diodes) throughout the plants, because I hear that LEDs give out light that is very simular to the light that we recieve from the sun.
-- Posted by EvilSkuzzi on 7:01 am on Mar. 24, 2002
If i was you i would just stick with a HPS buld. You can also get 430w HPS son argon or something like that, which is 400w of HPS with 30w of Blue specrum thrown in for Veg growth! If you can only afford one light go with a HPS as the resulting buds that you will get are lovely!
-- Posted by Glocken der Holle on 3:01 pm on Mar. 24, 2002
Why is HPS better than MH? I ask because I've heard that MH lamps give off alot of blue light which is good for the plants, but maybe I should just go get a HPS lamp (those things are like $350!!!!) But
-- Posted by kozical420 on 4:33 am on Mar. 28, 2002 its not recommended that you use a 500 watt bulb because you will fry your plant you should goto walmart and get a indoor plant light i believe is about a 40 to 60 watt , mount it one to two foot above the plant 12 on 12 off for mass growth i would recommend 4 or more of these bulbs depending on how many you are growing you can grow up to about six healthy ones with one bulb so you can estimate how many it would take for your specific needs
