Some people like wood because it adds its own flavor to the pot, and metal does the same. Glass gives a flatter response, so you actually taste what you're smoking. Protopipes are a nice invention, though. Only problem is either having a mains supply for Mr Toasty (my big DIY one) or being able to carry around the as yet unnamed smaller DIY lightbulb-type one. Im not really an addict and  can afford to not make the most out of it. Whenever my friends get together they usually smoke out of either a glass bowl or just roll a nice doobie. Anyways if your in a crunch and just need to get high, use a vaporizer becuase it'll do the job nicely. It's made out of bone (which does make the smoke taste a little shitty), but I was working on resinating it for a while to get rid of that nasty taste. Unfortunatly it got lost in a move. I believe it's just about time again to rechristian it.
