You don't nessarily NEED to make ur own fuses. U just need to take a bunch of left over fuses from 4th of July fireworks and twist em together. Soon u will have a pretty nice fuse. Well, it's tested and works for me. What I do is mix up a batch of melted potassium nitrate and sucrose (the old smokebomb mixture) and while the melted gunk is still pliable roll it into long 1/8 wide strips. I then wrap them with tape to keep the pieces together when the fuse cools and eventually cracks (it always does - once cooled the mixture is brittle).
