(voltage/current) If it can handle 100 or so milliamps, you can use it to directly drive a relay coil (be sure to install a reverse-biased diode to snub the reverse EMF from the coil on switch-off).  If not, you need to preamplify it before the relay, a cheap li'l common-emitter amp can be made from 2 resistors & a silicon bipolar transistor with decent gain, e.g. 2n2222, from Radio Hack.  Alternately, I've gotten my hands on some neat little opto-electronic relays, part PVN012, from International Rectifier.  They require only about 10-20 mA drive, and can handle up to 6 AMPS, AC or DC on the output side!!!  Fantastic little things.     http://www.bombshock.com
