I was wondering if anyone has seen these or has any idea about making them. A trip wire would be a cool addition too if anyone has any ideas on construction. -- Posted by jmb1125 on 10:28 pm on Feb. 18, 2002 are you after a paintball landmine or one that just sprays (or shoots) liquid paint? -- Posted by Darknight on 12:08 am on Feb. 19, 2002 They sell a paintball land mine called the Mark 30 but it cost about $300 -- Posted by jmb1125 on 12:42 am on Feb. 19, 2002 make 1 get sum paper tubes not spiral but convolute with correct inside diameter. lotsa testing req'd here. drill a 6 inch square block with a wood boring bit all directions and angles until it looks like a porcupine when the tubes are in. glue them in so there is enough room for a center compartment where they all intersect. bore in from the top connecting all holes. this area should be correctly perportioned so a black powder charge will distribute it's pressure more or less equally to all tubes. a lid arrangment will be needed also. oh yeah i forgot 2 tell u that u might want to cross-pin the tubes b4 u glue them in so your paintball does not roll all the way down inside 2 where the bp charge is. then get a bunch of dumb-ass friends u don't like to stand in a circle around it while u commence with the "developmental testing" of said hell-device. -- Posted by Hergor on 5:56 am on Feb. 19, 2002 paintball claymores are fun, especially on tournament matches. here's the idea: 1)take a small metal pipe. 2)cap one end and seal tightly. 3)put some bp in the pipe. 4)put one of these party poppers on top of the bp. (and don't forget to attach additional [preferably black] cord to the pp's 'trigger') 5)use some paper or wool to hold the pp in place (it must stand a strong pull but be loose enough to be blown out by the explosion - it's not too difficult). 6)now put five to twenty paintballs into the pipe and seal with a thin layer of wool and wax (make sure that the cord is movable). there you go. just dig a small hole in the ground and put the pipe in a 45 degrees angle inside (or clamp between two branches) and fasten the cord to a nearby tree. several mines arranged in a 'zigzag-pattern' are perfect for wiping out a whole scout-commando... -- Posted by pyrotech on 9:31 am on Feb. 19, 2002 Thanx for the great ideas :smile:  I'm going to try some of them. I probably should have added that I dont want to kill anyone with a BP charge. If it were powered by air pressure it would also be re-useable. -- Posted by Hergor on 11:49 am on Feb. 19, 2002 just needs to be a small bp charge, besides when playing paintball you wear protection suits anyway. to that air pressure mine: there are adaptors for CO2 cartridges (those used when your regular CO2 container drops below useful pressure). they have a 1.70 cm thread. you could attach a small cylinder with a 'turnable' valve here. to the 'trigger' of the valve you can fasten some cord as tripwire. into the cylinder you need to first put a piece of cardboard (for not freezing the paintballs rendering them deadly projectiles) and then some paintballs. last part is a small ammount of waxed wool on top of the paintballs that those don't drop out of the cylinder. hope this suits you better... ;) (but i've used lots of bp-powered boobytraps in paintballmatches and none of them has done any 'severe' physical harm.) -- Posted by jmb1125 on 7:08 pm on Feb. 19, 2002 yeah Zambosan, think I was serious about testing on ppl? lol test on cardboard boxes, with a small bp charge of course. -- Posted by Zambosan on 10:18 am on Feb. 20, 2002 Just a little healthy paranoia... comes from being a parent I s'pose... (NO!  Don't touch that!  Put the cat down!  Leave the knives alone! Arrrgh!!!) :) Hehe... seriously tho', most of the time it'll probably be harmless (minus the usual welts, which you should be used to by now if you play paintball often).  But if the balls or the wadding get hung up on something in the tube, or you add a little too much BP, the pressure can skyrocket and burst the tube. -- Posted by Hergor on 10:27 am on Feb. 20, 2002 hey, it's a metal pipe after all. the bp is under no circumstances able to burst the pipe when one side is only filled with paintballs, wool and wax. I was referring more to the PVC; don't let its flexibility fool you, the stuff shatters very easily.  ABS is a much better choice if you want toughness but not metal. -- Posted by Hergor on 11:11 am on Feb. 20, 2002 got yer thought... :) yeah, PVC is quite bad. my first spudgun was made of PVC pipes: it only lasted about thirty shots until it bursted. Metal pipe? yeah with a well designed manifold block. tripwire? the old wooden-clothes-pin-and two-thumb tacks contact switch. -- Posted by darius on 4:20 pm on Mar. 4, 2002 hey pyrotech that program that you watched it wasnt by any chance that 'scrapheap challenge' or summat was it? but anyway an alright idea for a mine with no explosivs is to get one of them u-shaped pipes (like the one under the toilet) on one end sit a co2 cartrige on it, so that it is just protruding from the top of the pipe and somehow you need to break the seal on the cartrige... try drilling a hole in the side of th pipe where the co2 is and then put another nail into the nozzle of the cartrige carefully set it all so thet it is suspended on the nail that was put through the hole that was drilled. fill the other end with some paint and then put a weak cap over it !! oh and you need to put some sort of cap over the cartrige so that it doesnt shoot upward but moves down so that the seal breaks. and now after all that complicated shit that probably isnt worth the time, bury it! and when the mine is stepped on the gas is released and the paint is forced out of the other end of the pipe. have fun if you can be bothered :) -- Posted by johnny 99 on 3:13 am on Mar. 15, 2002 go to a website called the paintball underground, they have plns etc. phenumatic not BP also some nice grenadelauncher and shotgun plans for paintballs.     http://www.bombshock.com
