-- Posted by Rebo on 3:26 pm on Mar. 13, 2002 how technically pure is the acetyline made from Calcium Carbide? I do not need alot, and do not want to have to buy a whole tank of acetyline.

Pure water reacted with pure calcium carbide will produce only acetylene and calcium hydroxide. Any impurities are the result of impurities in the precursors:

-- Posted by Zambosan on 12:45 pm on April 3, 2002 No, acetylene is H-C=C-H, whereas hydrogen peroxide is H-O=O-H. Similar structure, different makeup. Both are unstable because of the double bonds, peroxide more so.
