Isnt this bloody dangerous? i dont wanna blow my arms off LOL nahh it's not "a block of explosives" as you so eliquantly put it it's merely a low order version of black powder that has been compressed into a block and as long as you dont use metal tools to crush the block it's pretty much 100% safe and if it did ignite it would just flare up and nothing like blowing your arm off, even so i would suggest you crush it up outside, but you would have ample time to step back if by some chance it did ignite. NOTE: 2years ago a kid blew off 4 fingers trying to make a pipe bomb with it so be CAREFUL -- Posted by zx9 on 1:35 pm on April 4, 2002 do you have to grind up the solidox. can you just take a stick of it, put a hole in the top and stick a fuse in it? that would be safer because u dont have the risk of it igniting wen u r grinding it up -- Posted by qmakowski on 2:56 pm on April 4, 2002 not really. see if you do that it will burn like it was supposed to and just burn straight down. you could iguess. break it up and try it in pieces. a good way of using it and not breaking it up is to surround it with black powder. that makes a good bang. if your going to use pure solidex you have to break it up or it wont exploed and just burn. see if you grind it up you have oxigen between the little pieces and it'll burn as a whole and explode. -- Posted by The Anarchist on 12:57 am on April 5, 2002 would the store clerk at a hardwear store let a 14 year old kid buy solidex -- Posted by Egg411 on 7:44 am on April 5, 2002 thats just an oxidizer if you wanna it to burn i think you need to add fuel to it.  i'm not really sure what would make a good fuel.  try stufff and see what works -- Posted by chroniccrescent on 8:25 am on April 5, 2002 sugar is a good fuel (Glucose would be better seeing how it is probably pure energy but it would be hard to find) a 1:1 ratio of fuel/oxidiser should do the job, grind them up (individually!)  for a better and quicker burning rate. if ur gonna make these, put them in PVC tubes, the heavy duty ones and use water/pressure proof fuses or cannon fuses.
