-- Posted by dellexo on 2:03 pm on Nov. 18, 2001 Iv'e been reading about liquid oxygen explosives(L.O.X).These are used in some parts of the world in minning. All that it takes to prepare them is to take a large roll of cotton wool(cellulose) making sure it is rolled tight ,and soak in liquid oxygen for a few mins. After that it is taken out of the L.O and a deternator placed inside and set off. This has to be done quickly to avoid to much loss of oxygen
-- Posted by 7th Street on 3:51 pm on Nov. 18, 2001 Hey, where could I find some L.O.?
-- Posted by dellexo on 6:33 pm on Nov. 18, 2001 Sorry mate, i haven't got a clue.I would like some me self
-- Posted by 7th Street on 7:17 pm on Nov. 18, 2001 Hey I remember a few years ago, some scientists on the Discovery channel were fucking around with putting mice in L.O. for medical purposes. Maybe some kind of medical supply company. :)

pfft!! hehe yeah a medical supply store!, even if you can find were to get it would be impossible without a liscence and a good reason!! but if you somehow obtain these things ,or you plan on breaking in (which wouldnt be a bad idea) you should try a chemical supply store they sell tonz of stuff like dry ice and potassium nitrate that sort of thing :)

Gentalmen,

hmm,... wonder what would happen if you drank some L.O..... What a complete waste of time putting that in the explosive forum .Shorly that would be more suitable in the chemical burns/frost burns section of the BS furum.IF THERE IS ONE?
-- Posted by moorey on 12:29 am on Jan. 25, 2002 it would no doubt burn ur throat and anything it touches.. similar to nitrogen, oxygen has a rather low freezng point... a gas only becomes a liquid when it is cooled or pressurised... which cooles it too- thats my guess as to what would happen
-- Posted by Sicopath on 4:58 am on Jan. 26, 2002 if you drank only a little, would you get a fuckin' nasty burp?
-- Posted by moorey on 9:52 am on Jan. 26, 2002
nyone game to try?.. :p nyone stupid enough?.. liq.nitrogen burns bad enough whern u touch it.. or nythin it froze
-- Posted by Zambosan on 11:27 am on Jan. 31, 2002 Oxygen is in the liquid state only at cryogenic temperatures. Trust me, you won't get your hands on any. Welding supply stores carry *compressed* oxygen, but not liquid. Pure oxygen in general can make for nasty fires, so be real careful. It's all fun 'n games until it gets out of control. Oxygen / acetylene bags are lots o' fun, but *keep them small*, they detonate with a tremendous amount of force. Oh yeah, and wear earplugs unless you like tinnitis.

Thank you, Zambosan!
-- Posted by Zambosan on 11:49 am on Feb. 1, 2002 Hmm, didn't know that JMB, thanx. Those have got to be some real high-power rocketry nuts to be futzing with LOX... do they need a license to obtain it? I know companies like Air Products manufacture & carry all sorts of liquefied gas (contradiction in terms? ;) ) products, but their customers are typically semiconductor and manufacturing concerns... high volume, strict safety controls, etc. And of course, NASA uses plenty of it for the shuttle...

I don't know how they are getting it. But these guys work at Rocketdyne, Areojet, & JPL. They have the FAA
-- Posted by jmb1125 on 10:49 pm on Feb. 18, 2002 every welding supply company where i live sells liquid oxygen. western airgas said they sell vessels of l.o. 51 gallon size contents net wt. approx. 350 lbs. no price yet. said to be cheaper than compressed.

i was thinking , perhaps at some schools-in labs of at universities/college's there would be some liquid oxygen in the labs. i know they wouldnt have a huge supply , but it would be already be in its own container thus much safer until you use it.
-- Posted by paladinpress on 12:29 pm on April 7, 2002 It would be hard to sneak a tank ot would it not be easier to just get a buddies paintball 20oz Co2 tankand fill it???!?!
-- Posted by chroniccrescent on 4:01 pm on April 8, 2002 Just ask your local astronaut for some, tell him to siphon some off the space shuttle.
-- Posted by paladinpress on 8:51 pm on April 8, 2002 Talk about a huffing high he could flaot his ass to the moon on dem der fumes

-- Posted by Egg411 on 12:03 am on April 10, 2002
think a co2 tank would hold liquid oxygen?
-- Posted by paladinpress on 1:48 am on April 10, 2002 It could barring you do not exceed the Recommened pressure level, and you have a proper fitting fro pressuring the tank.
