The phosphorus is on the strikepad (on safety matches, at least) and is what makes them light. Phosphorus and chlorates react in a nasty manner, and sulfur does as well. You can indeed make bombs with matches. I've been making match head cratermakers for ages. Just add some sodium or potassium chlorate , a bit less of chlorate than match powder, and powder it down really fine. Goes pretty fast, and in a small 35mm film canister or a golf ball or something they have quite a good ablility to make dogs shit themselves all the way to the next county... Only problem is all that scraping youve gotta do, or risking reducing the power by boiling, and if you use strike-anywheres and set the mix off when you powder it down you are gonna say goodbye to all the powder in the pot you are mixing (thats why i do a few small bowlfuls rather than all at once, just in case) and probably the skin off your hands...     http://www.bombshock.com
