They are not too expensive to make. If you want a shitty one, all you need is a printer, someone that you know with a decent digital camera, some photopaper, and a card laminator. If you have access to all of those already, it doesn't cost you anything. Those tools make pretty shitty id's, but the DO work. If you want a drivers license like the ones on pvc card (the hard plastic ones), you can use teslin and a regular printer. the only way it is expensive is if you make it expensive. For example, someone could go out and buy a $2,000 pvc printer and a $1500 mag. strip encoder, but only people who want a new identity do that shit. AND NO, I DO NOT MAKE ID's. I just find some topics interesting and I reasearch into them alot. Later.... People definitely DO make fake IDs, whether for the reasons you may be interested in one, or, more than likely, for OTHER reasons. Having $5000 worth of ID-making equipment won't give you a new identity, either. You have to beat computer records, paper records, government records, and the list goes on (although it's still really easy to get done) -- anyone doing illegitimate stuff with professional ID equipment is doing more than making IDs. Believe me. But even for simple purposes, people DO still make them, and they're making them better than ever before thanks to Teslin, color photo inkjets, and other affordable technology. Thanks for backing me up knightmedia. The bouncer/cashier does not have to be blind, they just have to hate their job enough to just not care. The id's that can be made with a pvc printer are EXACTLY like the id's that the state isssues except for the hologram needs to be faked and the mag strip on the back needs to be encoded. If those kinds of ids are scanned with a mag strip reader, the information that you have programmed into the mag strip (name/dob/height/location/ect.) will pop up on the computer and show the same info. that is on the ID making the ID will seem real. /me spits in groundcontrol's face you ignorant fuck. -- Posted by spootyguy on 10:36 am on April 6, 2002 Theres some damn stupid librarians at our.. *ahem* 'the college of some people i know'... and they are constantly leaving the upper mezzanine floor of the library unattended. This is where they keep the computer with the card printer (yep, printer, not laminator), and they also leave it logged in so students dont even have to crack a password to be able to print out replacement NUS cards with somewhat edited details, like age... Sheer brilliance, all one has to do is load up their saved card details, change the DOB, print it out again and remember not to save it in case someone notices, and you magically are able to buy alcohol.. :) If you are in the UK and dont have this privelege, go to http://www.phatism.com and get a 'novelty' ID that looks damn real to me, for £15. If you got more money to spend, i think http://www.fluxcard.co.uk have cards with smart chips containing details, photo, signature etc in and supply an automated phone authenticity thing too. Alright there genius, the guy asked for a fake id.  He is probably a little kid who wants to buy beer.  You and knightmedia are talking about giving him a new fucking identity.  For fucks sake all he wants is some beer. Of course you have to "make" new birth certificates and social security cards and liscence for a new identity.  And anyone who is willing to loose thereselves is probably willing to pay all the money that it would cost.  But why in the hell would this kid want all that shit done.  Does he need a new birth certificate to buy beer in a store... NO.  He wants only one thing, a fake id.  And yes it does cost too much money to make just a fake id.  You know the little hologram you were talking about?  Do you have any idea how much it would cost to replicate those.  People who make "real" fake id's (for new identities) arent willing to spend all that money to make a fake id for some kid that wants to buy beer. There are a few in every locale, believe me. If you're after alcohol and cigarettes, make some friends old enough to "contribute to your delinquency." It's easier, faster, and cheaper than worrying about an ID. Except for the time involved in making your templates and perfecting the "art" if that's what you want to do, the cost of a perfectly good fake home-brewed fake-ID is only about $3 U.S. - $10 if you're unlucky. The NJ license is traditionally the most counterfeited nation-wide, and even legitimate NJ ID's get turned down at some clubs because the bouncers know how much the ID gets copied.
