Take with you 1.)  flat head 2.) someone to keep watch                       3.) a quater  4.)gloves 5.) pocket knife                       6.)lighter                   Step 1.) take the knife, pry out the change slot about 5 mm. Step 2.) take flat head and place in between. pry it open as far as you can. Step 3.)on both side with knife and flat head pry it open more. step 4.) pull out change slot return, you may have to move it around in different ways. Like someone here mentioned earlier, all that change is a bitch to launder. -- Posted by TimCaton on 12:30 am on April 7, 2002 OK, this may or may not help.  Really depends on the phone and its location.  But it's a neat little story anyway.  About five or six years ago, way back in middle school, I was playing with the payphone there and wondering how I could make free calls.  The cable was in that plastic cable run stuff for running wires on walls, so I opened it up and found 4 wires.  So I cut one pair (I think it was yel/blk).  Still had dial tone, so they were thepair that sent the coin drop signal to the phone company.  Of course now, the phone was "broken" since the phone company controller couldn't tell when money was put in, it wouldn't complete the call. So, now I had a broken phone.  Now, I knew that there was an exposed telephone patch bay in the basement, behind the stage that I could access and it occured to me that the payphone might connect in it.  Sure enough it did, it was even labeled.  In fact all the phone lines were labeled for what offices they went to.  Had a lot of fun there listening in on the principle.  So, I picked a line that I didn't think would be real busy and connected the payphone to it. Now the payphone worked just like a normal phone and it didn't cost anything.  Mission accomplished.  Well, a few days later, I noticed an Out of Order sign on the phone and I wondered what the deal was.  So I tried making a call and it worked.  Then just for kicks, I dropped a dime in it and it came right out in the change return.  That was why the sign was there.  That got me thinking.  Hit the change return and nothing happened, so I reconnected the pair that sent the money tones and tried again.  $7.25 came out of the phone.  I could get free calls and money from the phone.  Who says the phone company isn't generous? Anyway, the point is, find the phone cable, figure out what pair is the coin tone/phone activation pair and cut it.  Check back every few days, reconnect those wires and hit the change return.  If its an active phone, you're almost sure to get $6-$7 each time. -- Posted by qube on 10:53 am on April 7, 2002 #Moderation Mode This is Crime!
