I’m thinking about building a shoulder fired rocket like a bazooka or a RPG. I need help on the impact detonator for the rocket. I have drawn up a rough diagram, any one have any suggestions on how I can improve it?
-- Posted by drlecter on 7:33 am on April 6, 2002 dude u want to put some arming device in there or ur going to end up blowin urself up Drill a tiny hole in the side and insert some kind of rod with possible screw head to block the firn pin from kncking the percussion cap. and a rod that dont fall out either. failing that u could put a fine mesh cone on the front which will stop small knocks from settin the thing of. nice rough drawing.

Hope that bit of advice helped. Dont fire from the shoulder until your positive its safe.oh yeah make sure you have a safety pin blocking the firing pin at all times when your not about to fire.

The IRA makes mortars that when flying through the air arms themselfs. A fan on top of a bolt that screws in while flying touches down on a .22 round that is used to set of the main chage when it hits the ground.

A 22lr shell right at the tip would be safer I would think. you would have to have a 7/32" hole in some steel and the rim of the cartrige must have no more that 1/3 of its surface area in contact divided up into 4-5 areas for reliable detonation. Also you could have an alternate or dual igniton form the engine like a fuze in the back so when it is done burning it lights the fuse and if the impact detonator fails It is shure to go off this way. but It may explode prematuraly on distant targets.
