in canada…if you go to that phone the dial 570- then the number without putting in money youll hear a dial tone…then hang up and answer it again and youll hear a lighter dial tone…then hang up and leave it for 10 secs and it will ring…that works in calgary but i doubt it will anywhere else

Green box don’t work no more. Red box still does. I still go boxing every now and again.

Most phones in my area have wised up and cut the talk path until money is deposited… and does again when it prompts you for more $$$. So you need to “add change” with your box while you’re talking. Of course, COCOTS don’t work at all.

If you try to get free calls from cocots (phones with no corporate logo on them like bellsouth) then you can build a beige box and rip into the wiring and make all the free calls you want. Though if you do it from a normal payphone just build a redbox. If you do decide to use the beige box do it in the middle of nowhere and with a police scanner. You can get more info on beige boxing red boxing etc. at www.phonelosers.org

The local ANAC number here in my state is 511; it will make a “boink” sound and then rattle the number off to you. You still can’t call them though; they’re set up as “outgoing only” lines.

here in america, chicago,il. you up to a pay phone and dial 511 then thee last 4 digits of the phone number. wait for a dial tone. then hang it up. wait one second. pick it up,onesecond. then hang it up and walk away. this is a test by phone companies to find out if the phone is working. this only works on some payphones. it works on most of them in the train stations.

if you want the number of a payphone, just simply go to it and put in your money and then call your house. if you have caller I.D it will show you the number of that payphone.

what something pretty cool that you can do at pay phones is you go up to one and dial 991 then hang it up a couple times then put the phone back on the hook and it will ring.
i dont know if this will work for all of yu guys but it works for me here in connecticut
