Any Insight On Opium ??

I have some Papaver Somniferum growing here at my place…just seedlings now but I plan to take them outside after the frosts are done and let them go nuts…I understand it is legal to have and to grow the plants in most places but it is illegal to scrape the seed pods in order to get the tars/opium….Has anyone actually grown any? Smoked any? Made any? Sold any? etc etc etc???? Anything you guys know of would be great…thanks and PEACE

Yes, Yes, Yes and no. The highest quality opium comes from the pod. Place a horizontal slice (not deep, just enough to prick the surface) on the pod surface. The white goop that comes out is raw opium. Let it turn brown, then scrape it. YOu can also extract fairly decent stuff from other parts of the plant w/ methyl alcohol. What kind of p.somniferum do you have (ie danish flag, turkish giant, etc)

Turkish Giant and some other weird named one my mom gave to me LOL She found like 2 old ass packets of them she gave me and they only have Poppie “papaver somniferum” on the packet, But the others I ordered online and they are the Turkish Giant ones you named…Anything else? Thanks for the info so far

I’ve smoked baught and sold the shit. I don’t know much about growin them tho. I hear they grow just like wild flowers. Put em in a pot and let em make whoopie. lol. But go to erowid if u have any detailed questions.

Turkish Giant is a fucking MONSTER pod. Seriously, I have personally seen a tg pod grow to the size of a baseball! Keep them in full sunlight (or as full as possible). The first few weeks are particularly important-keep them damp, but not too wet (you’ll be able to tell by looking at them whether or not they are ok). when they start to develop true leaves (about 4″high” weed them to about 8 inches apart from each other (pruning out the smaller weaker plants, leaving the stongest & tallest). after roughly 60-90 days, you should see buds. Let them flower. After the flower has been open for 2-3 days, pull the petals off (do this in the evening). The next morning, slice as per my previous post (for some reason, morning is the most productive time to havest the sap). And yes, any further questions, please go to erowid.
