— Posted by Boosa on 4:25 pm on Mar. 7, 2002

Take table salt and heat it in a metal dish until it melts.
Than run electricity through it.
Don’t breathe the gas.
It’s pure clorine and you will die.
Pure sodium explodes in water so have fun.
It also burns through shit.
Really good for school, cars, or just about anything you can think of.

and any1 knowz how long should I wait till it melts?!
(and what and how long of electricityu I should use???)

Could you melt the salt over a gas stove, or would you need more heat. If it was in a pot, how would one go about getting the electricity through it?

put it somewhere that doez let electricity to go on – some place with enough room for the sodium…and connect it to the electricity…:)

but stay away – it makes gas witch will kill u

Trail and error thats how all things are worked out

how do you run electricity through it???

pull a dc converter off an old electrical applence (i got mine of a speaker ) then put the positive end of the wire in one end and the negative in the other end and switch it on. wouldnt this procedure b really dangerous, on account of a. chlorine is poisonous as u said (remember to bottle it for later use kiddies) and b. doesnt sodium react with moisture in the air? because burning from the stove causes moisture which could set it off, so b  very careful if u do this, im gonna try it still though 😎

thats bludy hard to melt NaCl, it melts at 804 deg.C. you also cant go stikin copper wires into it. attach them to graphite pencil lead! it works, u need at least 4.23V. it can also b don wif aqueous (dissolved in water) NaCl. but it is hard to do and u need a part down the middle that splits the Cl from the sumfin else or sumfin.
Search for electrolosis.

electrolosys seems so easy when u plan it, but when u do it, its fuckin rocket science (i know this coz i had trouble just making rust through electrolosys)

I know, I tried to make the fukin sodium with aqueous NaCl a while ago, but I realised that NaOH (Sodium Hyroxide) was left! the best way is if you’re in College (UK), go nick some. thats what I’m planning…

You can’t melt salt on a stove it’s an ionic bond you need some kind of 5000 degree oven like a kiln at the art room in school for baking clay sculptures.

u can use a bunsen burner, or two
