You can make a training sword out of wood. People have been doing that for ages in both the east and west. A wooden sword has just about zero combat potential versus a real one, but it’s fun all the same.

yeah, i would say that a wooden blade isnt as good as a metal one. however, you can make small stabbing weapons out of wood.

well you might try aking a wooden sword and then putting a strong metal edge (like titanium on it) … that might work

Actually wooden swords have shed a lot of blood over the years. traditionally they are made out of hard tight grained woods seasoned like a bow to have a bit of flex to them. weighted forward of the handle for a good slashing stroke ie; sabre etc… Then the edges are fitted with stone flakes, sharks teath, shells, whatever. These days a nice alternative is glass, which can be knapped just like flint or obsidian. Or just left with a clean sharp break. The over all effect is supposed to be similar to getting smacked with a running circlar saw. VERY nasty.
