Here is an Idea that i’ve been kicking aroundfor what should be a helluva good flamethrower. to buisy working to try it yet. I think that you should be able to take a standard dry ABC fire extinguisher, the one outside my window is rated for 500 psi empty it, fill it with your favoriteflavor af napalm about 3/4 full then chuck in some dry ice screw the valve assembly baack on flip it over . and vent pressure as the ice melts and the co2 expands until you stabilize at a safe pressure. then mount a nozzle and igniter etc. And light up the town!!! any input?

hmm..mm..mm do you know exactly how much the co2 will expand? I don’t. On real flamethrowers there is a low pressure circuit for the idler flame.

I read somwhere the exspansion diference , but i don’t have it infront of me. I would probably use a BBq lighter , kerosine wick for the gnidter atleast for the MK1 version. as long as you start witha small amount of dry ice and expearament up ,watching the gauge as it melts I thik you could monitor it ok!

How can i make or were can i get dry ice
— Posted by Hergor on 10:55 am on Mar. 16, 2002
you might be able to get dry ice from fishing warehouses. they use it to cool the fish…
and to the flamethrower: i think it’s better when the CO2 does run through the flammable liquid and is kept in a separate tank. otherwise you might get a quite high ammount of CO2 out of the barrel that puts out the ‘idler-flame’…
ask jmb he has made a quite useful sketch of a flamethrower… hope he doesn’t get angry with me telling you to ask him… 😉

Might as well use a supersoaker

ask Hergor for a copy. He was supposed to redraw it it 3-d cad. LOL.

jmb, i’m already on it. i just need some more time. 😉

Yea, I wondered how much co2 would get pumpd out with the gas myself? Guess i’ll have to get off my dead ass and try it to see . I’d like to see those plans whenever you get them set up.(no rush though). I built a pretty good one awile ago around a pilots hipressure bailout bottle & a scuba tank . just thought that this would be cheaper & easier! anyway thanks for all the input!!

I was thinking: If you mixed an oxidising compound such as manganese dioxide in with the napalm, the mixture would be easier to ignite and burn more intensely, of course with the addition of an oxidising compound you’d have to be wary of the flame possibly being sucked into the canister. Better watch the pressure gauge me thinks.

Well I got a good flamethrower but It’s tested and workes!
What u need:
One arosol can
One Cigarette lighter
What u do:
Take the arosol can and press the button so whatever is in it will come out. Then Light the lighter and hold it close to the nozzle. a flame will come out. Put the lighter back in your pocket but keep the nozzle pressed. Wreak havoc.

I think that we aren’t talking about quite the same thing roland. your aerosol can will shoot a mist of flame maybey 10 inches the last flamethrower that I made wouldshoot a stream of flaming oil/gas about thirty yards for about 45 seconds to 1 minute worth of burn!! This one should come close to that range, and hold at a guess 20 seconds worth of fuel. if the co2 doesn’t fuck it up?

Wouldn’t the rubber/plastic hose thingy on the fire extinguisher melt? How ironic… u used to put fires OUT with that thing. Now ur terrorizing ur nieghborhood with it. ironic indeed.
— Posted by Hergor on 5:56 am on Mar. 17, 2002
please Roland49686, drop that aerosol can idea. you’ll get hurt. those things might blow up when used for a too long period of time…
— Posted by Roland49686 on 12:31 pm on Mar. 17, 2002
Well.. ur right but. U’ll get hurt with the Fire extinguisher thing too. The hose will melt and then..well yeah.

Read the orginal post, Roland . You will see that I was talking about mounting a nozzle on it ! not using the plastic.

you can get dry ice at wal-mart for about 10 bucks someoneisluke

hmm… i can picture it now…
Asshole: oh what are you going to do with that? put out a fire?
You: well lets see…

anyone know of a nonflameable liquid that floats on gasoline? to use as a gas seal between the co2 & fuel.
— Posted by Hergor on 3:37 pm on Mar. 21, 2002
what for would you need a gas seal between the CO2 and the flammable liquid (and even a liquid as seal)?
— Posted by johnny 99 on 12:38 am on Mar. 22, 2002
To stop the co2 from percolating through the gas, and putting out the idler flame. I don’t know if a liquid seal would work or not, but when I build it I will try it and see.

I have a good idea. fill supersoaker with petrol, pump, pull the trigger and light it up!
— Posted by chroniccrescent on 4:03 pm on Mar. 23, 2002
take a lighter with a flame adjuster, rip off the wind gaurd with pliers, snip the little notch on the flame adjuster so u can turn it up more than u should, its a good idea to put the guard back on or make a little flame sheild as my lighter got at least 12 inches at 1 go, and it makes a very loud burning noise which is cool. this lighter is useful for signalling or burnin persplex windows (which they have in my cheap ass school, hmmm.):shocked:

yeah i do that the whole time its good
— Posted by trowe on 7:30 pm on Mar. 23, 2002
yeah, the lighter idea is cool, idid that once, it was cool. didnt do nuthin illegal with it though, my first time doin it, but i had fun. i blew the fukkin thing up later though.
