Ammunition

Ammunition

Ammunition is generally known as ammo which is a standard derivative from French word “La Munition” which covered everything that was used in a war. Eventually ammunition was exclusively used for artillery and gunpowder.

Explosive materials and propellants, projectiles of all kinds and cartridges are the components of ammunition intended for firearms and munitions. Anything that can be used in combat that includes guns, rifles, bombs, missiles, warheads and mines is ammunition.

The design of the ammunition is determined by its purpose and to specific needs of the user. For example ammo used in rifles is designed in a way that it can be shot from a distance and will accurately penetrate into the targets body and maximize the damage, while pistol ammo is designed to be shot from comparatively less distance for greater effect.

Similarly design of ammunition for missiles and mines is totally different from the guns as these munitions will be used to damage a place or group and not individual person.

There are wide range of companies who make ammo and one has to go to the ammunition store to purchase whatever they need. In reality, making ammunition is not a hard task.
